Welcome!

Hello! Thank you so much for checking out my website. I’m excited to be able to share materials and therapy ideas with others!

I wanted to use this first post to introduce myself- I’m Michelle. I am an ASHA certified, Cleveland-based speech-language pathologist who works in a local school district full time and a hospital as a PRN therapist. I graduated with my Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology from Cleveland State University in 2017 and have been working full time in the schools ever since.

My motivation to make this blog and website was to share some of the therapy ideas and sessions that I’ve developed, especially during the chaos that was the 2020 school year! I’m not sure what I was expecting when I was told we would be providing therapy service through Zoom back in August, but I definitely wasn’t expecting what it ended up turning into. I work primarily with preschool students! I remember thinking that there was no way I’d ever be able to keep them engaged for a full therapy session and be able to collect meaningful data to keep accurate IEPs/progress reports! The thought was overwhelming. Fast forward two weeks after that when I discovered the use of a green screen (shout out to Play Spark Toys for leading the way with such innovation!) and I started playing around with different interactive and engaging activities. I went from feeling extremely uncomfortable and unprepared to be delivering remote services to having parents and other clinicians asking me about my materials. I started feeling like Steve from Blue’s Clues with how often I was in front of the green screen and I loved every second of it. My goal is to provide ideas, conversations, and help empower other SLPs- remote and in-person.

Here are a few things about me:

-I knew I wanted to be an SLP by the time I was a sophomore in high school. My mom is a physical therapist and encouraged me to look into the field. She thought it’d be a good fit for me since I love to talk.

-I have a passion for working with kiddos on the spectrum. I even gave a talk about how communication and social deficits go along with autism for a local hospital system. You can watch it here.

-I currently work primarily with preschool kiddos but I have experience with pre-k through 5th graders in the schools. I try to provide play-based services as much as I can, as I feel that kids learn best through play!

-When I’m not working, I love all things Disney and Marvel related and can usually be found volunteering at my church.

Thank you for coming on this journey with me! I can’t wait to see what we learn from each other.
